Softball Ends Florida Trip 8-4

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Benedictine softball team finished up their annual spring break trip in Florida with an 8-4 overall record. The Eagles defeated Washington & Jefferson 7-6 in the first game but fell to Hendrix, 2-0, in the night cap.

THE DETAILS
• Washington & Jefferson took a 2-0 lead after a one-run first and second inning
• The Eagles tied it up in the bottom of the frame after an Angie Malsack two-RBI single
• W&J tallied four runs off of three hits in the fourth but the Eagles tallied two runs in the same inning with a Shannon Fritsche two-RBI double
• Benedictine would tie the game in the fifth on another Malsack single
• Fritsche drove in the winning run in the seventh after Kailee Cable and Malsack singled earlier in the inning
• Melissa Stoch, Cable and Malsack each had three hits while Malsack tallied four RBI
• Holly Haberkorn pitched five innings and allowed six hits, five runs with three strikeouts
• Melissa Guzior came in to finish the game, picking up the win

• Benedictine only tallied three hits in the game, coming from Fritsche, Haberkorn and Malsack
• Hendrix scored the only two runs of the game in the fourth off of two hits
• Guzior picked up her second loss of the season, allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings
