CHICAGO, ILL. - The Benedictine University men's volleyball team moved to 15-8 on the season with a 3-0 win over non-conference opponent, Illinois Institute of Technology, on Friday night.

THE FINAL
Benedictine 3, IIT 0 (25-14, 28-26, 25-16)

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine tallied 13 kills in the first set while holding IIT to just three kills. The Eagles took an early lead and never looked back, winning 25-14
• The entire match saw 21 ties, 17 of them coming in the second set. In the end, IIT tied it at 26. A Dan Gibadlo kill gave BenU the 27-26 advantage and a Gibadlo and Markus Riemer block secured the 28-26 second set victory
• The Eagles took a lead in the third and IIT could never recover as BenU would go on to tally 12 kills in the 25-16 win

THE STATS
• Jeremy Villarreal tallied eight kills and eight digs
• Gibadlo also tallied eight kills for a .429 hitting percentage and two block assists
• Kacper Mazurek recorded a team high 10 kills while Riemer had seven digs and 28 assists
• As a team, the Eagles recorded 36 kills, 39 digs and four blocks

Benedictine has two crucial MCVL matches coming up next weekend that will determine their fate in the post season. The Eagles travel to Marian on Friday, April 1 for a 7:00 pm game followed by a 1:00 pm contest at Lakeland on Saturday, April 2.
