Men's Lacrosse Upends Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season with a road win over Carthage College, an NCAA Tournament team last season.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine shut out Carthage in the first half, racing to an 8-0 lead
• Dell Hune opened the scoring five minutes into the contest
• A pair of goals less than a minute apart opened the door for Benedictine as Eric Orndorf and Blake Keenan found the back of the net
• Matthew Johnson scored three straight goals, including the first of the second quarter
• Benedictine led 5-0 after the first and held an 8-0 lead at halftime
• Benedictine did not score in the second half but forced Carthage to use three goalies

FROM THE COACH
"Nobody on the roster or the coaching staff was surprised at the outcome of the game today," head coach Guy Bourdon said. "We knew what he needed to do in order to be successful, and the kids went out and executed. We're pleased with the results, but not fully satisfied. We need to continue to grow as a team."

STAT LEADERS
• Johnson tallied three goals with Hune collecting a pair
• Benedictine held a 36-34 advantage in shots won 9-of-16 faceoffs
• Jeremy Voyda played the entire game in goal, making 14 saves
