CHICAGO, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team played another close contest, falling in extras at North Park University on Thursday night.

THE DETAILS
•
For the fifth time this season Benedictine failed to hold a lead in the eighth inning
• The game marked the third walk-off of the season against Benedictine
• Benedictine has played 11 contests decided by three runs or less and owns a record of 3-8 in those contests, accounting for all but one of the team's defeats
• Benedictine held leads of 1-0, 4-2, 7-5, and 8-7 before North Park scored twice in the 10th of the second extra-inning contest of the season
• The third homer of the season from Erik Callaghan handed Benedictine a 1-0 lead in the second
• A pair of fourth inning run gave Benedictine a 4-2 lead before North Park scored three times in the sixth
• Chayancze Stirbis singled home a run in the top of the eighth with Kyle Bock tallying a two-run single
• Bock lifted a sacrifice fly in the 10th but North Park won the game on a two-out single along with an error that plated a pair in the bottom of the inning
• Five different pitchers appeared in the contest

STAT LEADERS

Bock finished with three hits and four RBIs in the contest, also adding an RBI groundout in the fourth
• Benedictine finished with 11 hits and drew eight walks while stealing four bases on eight attempts
• Callaghan and Stirbis also collected three hits apiece with Callaghan crossing the plate three times
• James Holub started and worked two innings in the bullpen by committee contest
• Christopher Nesbitt took the loss despite striking out four in 1.2 innings
• Will Diessner notched the longest appearance at three innings
