Women's Lacrosse Challenges Conference Leaders

MEQUON, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team challenged the leaders of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference on the road before falling to Concordia Wisconsin in a contest that saw Samantha Link set a school record.

THE DETAILS
• While the home standing conference leaders never trailed, Benedictine answered the call early
• Trailing 1-0, Link scored at the 27:14 mark to tie the game and match the single season record for goals
• Concordia Wisconsin responded with four straight goals to open a 5-1 lead
• Nikki Gullett found the back of the net with 11:07 remaining in the first half to open a string of four straight for Benedictine to tie the score
• The stretch of goals came in just over three minutes
• Link finished the run with eight minutes left to set the single season record for goals with 43
• A goal with just over five minutes to play handed the hosts a 6-5 lead which was taken into the break and opened a string of seven consecutive goals to nab a 12-5 lead
• Benedictine scored twice late to account for the final

STAT LEADERS
• Hannah Smith played the entire game in net and made seven saves as Concordia Wisconsin held a 30-18 lead in shots
• Each team posted 10 draw controls while Concordia Wisconsin held a 22-16 edge in groundballs
• Link and Becca Gullett each scored twice to lead Benedictine with Gullett logging four groundballs and four draw controls
