Baseball Completes Weekend Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ill. - Another conference doubleheader produced another split of a pair of contests for the Benedictine University baseball team at Aurora University.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine has split five of the six conference doubleheaders to this point in the season
• Both games were close as 15 contests this year have been decided by three runs or less including all but four conference contests
• Benedictine was able to come from behind in the opener, tying the game in the eighth and winning the contest in the ninth
• Aurora tallied a pair of runs in the second inning to take the early lead
• Tanner Kiser connected on a one-out homer in the top of the eighth to bring Benedictine within a run
• With two outs and two runners aboard, pinch hitter Dom DeMicco singled home the tying run
• Kiser singled home the winning run in the ninth after Justin Montalvo was hit by a pitch to open the frame
• Joe Palasiewicz became the second hurler in as many days to spin a complete game, allowing just six hits while striking out three
• The second game produced a lot of early offense for each squad
• Aurora scored twice in the opening inning only to see Benedictine tie the game in the second
• Brandon Gipson and Kyle Bock each notched RBI singles in the second
• Aurora scored two more runs in the third to grab the lead while each team scored in the eighth to account for the final
• Ivan Guzman tossed a complete game in the second contest, striking out five in a career best eight innings

STAT LEADERS
• The offense produced nine hits in the first game and 10 in the second contest
• Kiser finished 3-of-5 in the opener with a pair of RBIs
• Bock picked up a pair of hits in the first contest and tacked on two more in the second game
• Montalvo and Sam Kerr each collected two hits in the second game

UP NEXT
Benedictine (12-11, 7-5 NACC) is slated to face Illinois Wesleyan University at home in a Tuesday night non-conference game
