Men's Lacrosse Falls to Aurora

LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team played tight statistically but lost at home to Aurora University.

THE DETAILS
• The middle of the first quarter produced a fury of action with Aurora striking twice in as many trips up the field
• Corbin Gett scored the first Benedictine goal in a man-up situation off a feed from Matthew Johnson
• Aurora responded with five straight goals, grabbing a 6-1 lead midway through the second
• Dell Hune broke the string and a goal from David Blanco pushed Benedictine within 6-3 at the 4:20 mark of the second
• Consecutive tallies from Aurora made the score 8-3 at the half and two more to open the third extended the lead to 10-3
• Aurora outscored Benedictine 8-3 in the third quarter to begin pulling away
• Each team scored three times in the fourth

STAT LEADERS
• Aurora held a 45-42 edge in shots and a 48-24 margin in groundballs while winning 19 faceoffs
• Jeffrey Smitheram played the entire game in goal, stopping 14 shots
• Hune scored three times to lead the offense
• Gett added a goal and three assists with Johnson and Tony DePinto each scoring twice
