Eagles Shutout Elmhurst

The Benedictine University softball team posted two shutouts on Tuesday afternoon against Elmhurst College in a non-conference doubleheader at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.

GAME ONE
THE FINAL

Benedictine 8, Elmhurst 0 (six innings)

THE DETAILS
• After two scoreless innings, Benedictine tallied two runs in the third with a Shannon Fritsche triple and Courtney Grasz sac fly
• Kailee Cable gave the Eagles a 5-0 lead in the fifth with a three-run homer to left field, her second of the season
• The Eagles secured the win in the sixth inning, scoring three runs off of two hits that included a two-RBI single from Melissa Stoch

THE STATS
• Holly Haberkorn tallied her second shutout in her last two games, allowing just two hits in six innings
• Fritsche was 2-4 with three runs scored and an RBI while Stoch was 2-4 with two RBI
• Jenna Boyajian was 2-2 and Cable had three RBI in the game

GAME TWO
THE FINAL

Benedictine 13, Elmhurst 0 (five innings)

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine took an early 8-0 lead in the second inning off of six hits and two Elmhurst errors
• The third inning saw RBI singles from Kassee Johnson, Fritsche and Grasz to take a 12-0 advantage
• The final run was scored in the fourth after a Kelli Holstine single
• Benedictine tallied 10 runs while Elmhurst committed five errors

THE STATS
• Melissa Guzior only allowed three hits with two strkeouts in five innings
• Grasz was 2-3 with five RBI while Haberkorn, Boyajian and Johnson each recorded hits
• Cable was 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI

The Benedictine softball team, now 13-7 overall, travel to Concordia University-Chicago on Wednesday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. NACC doubleheader.
