Softball Ties School Record With Win Over Emory

The Benedictine University softball team tied the school record for wins in a season with 38 after they defeated Emory University 1-0, forcing a game three in the NCAA Super Regional.

"We came out ready to play today," said Holly Haberkorn. "We found a way to get a run across and that's all this defense needs to win a game. We've come out today to do what we've done the last two weekends: win two!"

GAME ONE FINAL
Benedictine 1, Emory 0

THE DETAILS
• Fourth Inning: Benedictine threatened after a Kailee Cable double to lead off the inning, but the Emory defense was too much, keeping it scoreless
• Fifth Inning: Angie Malsack singled to right center and was driven in with a Miranda Hiemer triple to left field to take a 1-0 lead
• Sixth Inning: With one out in the sixth, Courtney Grasz singled to right field but was left stranded
• Haberkorn and the BenU defense held Emory to just two hits heading into the seventh inning
• Seventh Inning: Emory led off with a single to left field and after a sac bunt there was a runner on second with one out. A pop up to Haberkorn and a dribbler to Shannon Fritsche gave Benedictine the win
• This is Emory's first loss on their home field
