Eagles Victorious on Senior Day

LISLE, Ill. – The Benedictine University baseball team wrapped up the regular season and an extra special Mother's Day edition of Senior Day with a victory over St. Norbert College.

THE DETAILS
• Ivan Guzman got the start for the Eagles and worked six scoreless innings, surrendering only six hits while striking out six batters
• St. Norbert's starter held the Eagles' offense in check, allowing only two hits through the game's first six innings
• The Green Knights broke the deadlock with an RBI double in the top of the seventh
• Tanner Kiser led off the bottom of the seventh with a double, he advanced to third on an Andrew Hotze groundout
• Kyle Bock tied the game at 1-1 with a single, scoring Kiser
• A single by Justin Montalvo, followed by a balk, moved him into scoring position in the bottom of the eighth
• Nick Severino brought home the leading and eventual game winning run with a single
• Will Diessner shut the door on the Green Knights in the top of the ninth, earning his fourth save
• Marty Maves picked up his first win of the season in relief, bridging the gap between Guzman and Diessner
 
UP NEXT
Benedictine (20-18, 13-7 NACC) will travel to Concordia University – Wisconsin this week for the NACC Conference Tournament. The Eagles wrapped up the second seed and a first round bye with their sweep of Concordia University – Chicago yesterday. Their opponent is TBD, as they will face the highest remaining seed after the first round games.
