Eagles Drop Two

The Benedictine University softball team moved to 4-4 on the year with two losses on Tuesday against Tufts University and Lawrence University.
 
THE FINAL – TUFTS
Benedictine 6, Tufts 8
 
THE DETAILS
• The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after hits from Shannon Fritsche and Kaitlyn Velazquez
• A huge fifth inning but Benedictine up 6-0
• Fritsche led off the inning with a single followed by a Holly Haberkorn two-RBI double
• The scoring didn't stop there when Angie Malsack tallied and RBI single in the fifth
• A Tufts error gave BenU four runs off of three hits
• The Jumbos cut their deficit in the sixth with a two-run homerun to center field
• Tufts hit three home runs in the seventh inning to take the 8-6 lead
• Benedictine tried to rally back in the bottom of the frame when Courtney Grasz led off with a double down the left field line but it wasn't enough as the Eagles lost 8-6

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine tallied two runs in the first on a Lawrence error after Fritsche and Velazquez led off with singles
• Lawrence tied it up in the bottom of the inning off of three hits and took the lead in the third with three more runs
• Trailing 5-2, BenU tallied two runs in the third off a Haberkorn RBI
• Emily Chitwood scored in the sixth after doubling to lead off the inning to tie it at 5
• Lawrence took a 6-5 lead in the sixth with an RBI single and the Eagles couldn't find a way to score in the seventh
