Eagles Come From Behind to Sweep Wheaton

The Benedictine University softball team came from behind in game two for a sweep of Wheaton College in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
 
THE FINAL – GAME ONE
Benedictine 4, Wheaton 1
 
THE DETAILS
• Angie Malsack and Courtney Grasz singled in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead
• The Eagles tallied another run in the second on a Wheaton error
• The Thunder got on the board in the fourth inning after a BenU error
• Grasz homered for the second time in as many days in the fifth inning to give BenU a 3-1 lead
• Shannon Fritsche drove in the final run of the game in the sixth inning
• On the mound, Holly Haberkorn allowed just one hit
 
STAT LEADERS
• Grasz: 3-3, 1 RBI
• Kassee Johnson: 2-3
• Haberkorn (6-2): 7.0 innings pitched, 0 earned runs, 5 strikeouts, 1 hit
 
THE FINAL – GAME TWO
• After three and a half scoreless innings, Benedictine took a 1-0 lead after a Jenna Boyajian RBI
• Wheaton recorded four runs off of four hits in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead
• Haberkorn put BenU within one in the sixth inning, tallying her first homerun of the season, a two-RBI blast to left field
• Nicole Parney held Wheaton scoreless in the top of seventh
• In the bottom of the frame, Abbey Plutz walked and was driven in on an Emily Moore double to tie the game at four
• An Emily Chitwood sacrifice bunt put Moore in scoring position at third, which she did after a wild pitch to end the game
• Parney picked up her first win of the season for the Eagles
