Medlock Tallies Career High in Win Over Marian

The Benedictine University men's volleyball team won their third straight Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League contest on Friday night, defeating Marian University in four sets.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine went on a 4-0 run in the first set to tie it at 16 that included two Markus Riemer aces
• Elijah Medlock tallied five kills to secure the 25-19 win
• The Eagles recorded 11 kills
• Benedictine trailed the entire second set until they used a 4-0 run to tie it at 21
• A Nick Malak kill gave BenU the win
• Both teams combined for 13 missed serves in set two
• Medlock served three straight to give BenU a 13-12 third set advantage
• Marian quickly tied it and took the lead down the stretch
• Despite a Kyle VanStedum solo block, the Sabres went on to win 25-22
• Both teams traded points in set four
• Another VanStedum solo block gave BenU the lead and they went up 19-15
• Two back-to-back Zach Loeding blocks gave BenU the lead and they never looked back, winning 25-21
• The Eagles held Marian to just six kills and a -.032 hitting percentage
• As a team, BenU had 45 kills, 44 digs, 11.5 blocks and 15 service errors

The Benedictine men's volleyball team, now 10-11 overall and 9-7 in MCVL action, will host Lakeland University tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. for senior day where Jeremy Villarreal will be honored before the game.
