ROCK ISLAND, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team dropped a defensive battle at Augustana College on Wednesday night.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine held an 11-2 advantage in shots in the opening quarter but could not find the back of the net
• Kyle Wagner,
Trevor Manzke and
Corbin Gett all had attempts to score denied in a span of just over a minute
• The contest was scoreless at halftime
• The game remained scoreless until a frantic close of the third
• Randy Patrick put Benedictine on the board first off a feed from Wagner to convert on a turnover with just 1:06 left in the third
• After winning a faceoff, Augustana tied the game with 12 seconds to play in the quarter
• Augustana put together many opportunities early in the fourth, finally breaking through with 8:39 remaining
• The hosts pushed the lead to 3-1 with another goal at the 4:13 mark
• Wagner hooked up with Patrick again in a man-up situation to pull Benedictine within 3-2 with 1:37 left
• Benedictine won the faceoff but could not covert on the equalizer

• Benedictine held a 34-29 edge in shots for the game, but Augustana put together 13 in the fourth
• Benedictine picked up 34 groundballs, led by six from Wagner
