Baseball Tallies Fifth Straight Win

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team used three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win a fifth consecutive contest, taking down visiting UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday night.

THE DETAILS
•
UW-Oshkosh took the lead on the very first batter of the game with a solo homer
• The run would be the lone tally surrendered by Drake Berman, who made his first collegiate start
• Benedictine grabbed a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third
• Nicholas Quick led off with a walk and Nick Severino followed with a single
• Jack Feeley worked the count full before singling home the tying run
• The go-ahead run scored on a throwing error following a stolen base
• The visitors tied the game with a single run in the top of the seventh
• Benedictine wasted no time in answering, re-taking the lead three batters into the bottom of the frame
• Chayancze Stirbis drove home the eventual winner with a double to left-center
• Andrew Hotze and Erik Callaghan lifted sacrifice flies to add insurance
• UW-Oshkosh brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Marty Maves closed out his fifth save of the season
