Softball Takes Two From CUW

After already securing a spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament, the Benedictine University softball team took over the top spot in the NACC with a sweep of conference leader Concordia University-Wisconsin.
 
THE FINAL – GAME ONE

THE DETAILS
• Courtney Grasz picked up her fifth homerun of the season in the first inning
• A CUW error gave BenU a 2-0 lead
• The Eagles tallied two more runs in the third after singles from Kassee Johnson, Shannon Fritsche and Grasz
• The Falcons cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the frame with two runs, two hits and one BenU error
• Grasz tallied another homer in the fifth and Selena Kweder doubled to score a run in the sixth for the 6-4 Eagle victory

THE DETAILS
• The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the second
• Two scoreless innings passed before the Benedictine offense exploded
• The Eagles rallied in the fifth, tallying five runs off of three hits and three CUW errors
• Kelli Holstine doubled to right center followed by a Kweder single
• Johnson and Fritsche drove in runs
• Three CUW errors gave the Eagles three more runs for the 5-1 victory

UP NEXT
Benedictine softball, now 29-9 overall and 17-3 in conference action, is set to play their final two regular season conference games of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles welcome Dominican University for a 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. doubleheader at the Sports Complex.
