Softball Clinches NACC Regular Season Title

The Benedictine University softball team clinched the outright regular season title on Tuesday night after splitting with Dominican University on senior night. After the first game, the seven seniors were honored: Shannon Fritsche, Holly Haberkorn, Kelli Holstine, Kassee Johnson, Selena Kweder, Rosie Konczal and Tori Walzak.

Benedictine 12, Dominican 3 (5 innings)
 
THE DETAILS
• Courtney Grasz tallied her seventh homerun of the season to give BenU a 2-0 lead in the first
• An inning later, Angie Malsack tripled and scored on a DU error
• Dominican tallied a run off of two hits in the third
• Benedictine had a breakthrough ninth inning, tallying nine runs off of nine hits including a Kweder two-run homerun, her first of the year
• Dominican tried to rally in the fifth, tallying two runs, but it wasn't enough as BenU would go on to win 12-3

THE DETAILS
• Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the second inning
• The Eagles came back to take the lead in the third with four runs off of five hits from Kweder, Johnson, Grasz, Emily Moore and Breanna Sobotka
• The Stars cut their deficit in half in the fourth with a run
• In the fifth, Kweder tallied a two-run double to give BenU a 6-3 lead
• The Stars recorded four runs off of five hits in the seventh to take the lead and Benedictine could not recover

THE NACC TOURNAMENT
