Softball Splits a Pair at North Park

The Benedictine University softball team split a pair of non-conference games on Thursday afternoon against North Park University.
 
THE FINAL – GAME ONE
Benedictine 7, North Park 2
 
THE DETAILS
• After a scoreless first inning the Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the second
• Jenna Boyajian singled and Kassee Johnson doubled in the inning
• In the third, Benedictine scored another run with hits from Holly Haberkorn, Boyajian and Abbey Plutz
• Leading 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, North Park used three hits to tally two runs
• A Courtney Grasz homer in the sixth gave BenU the 7-2 victory
• Haberkorn picked up her 10th win of the season
 
STAT LEADERS
• Johnson: 2-3, 2 RBI, 1 run
• Haberkorn: 3-4, 1 RBI, 7.0 innings pitched, 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 strikeouts
• Plutz: 3-3, 1 RBI

THE DETAILS
• The Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first after a double from Johnson and hits from Haberkorn and Plutz
• North Park cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the frame
• The Vikings came alive in the second and third inning, tallying 10 runs off of eight hits
• Trailing 11-4, Benedictine stayed alive in the fourth when they scored four runs from Grasz and Boyajian doubles
• That would be the last time the Eagles would score and North Park tallied one more run in the fifth for the 12-7 win
