LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team finished off a 3-1 weekend of conference action by splitting a pair of home contests with visiting Marian University.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine set the tone early in the opener, plating five runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning
• Jimmy McLaughlin notched a one-out double and Chayancze Stibis was hit by a pitch
• Andrew Hotze doubled home a run to give Benedictine the advantage and Erik Callaghan followed with a two-run single
• Tanner Kiser and Marco D'Angelo followed with run-scoring doubles as Benedictine bashed four two-baggers in the first
• Ivan Guzman put together his best outing of the year, keeping Marian at bay as the lead continued to grow
• Callaghan collected an RBI single in the second and McLaughlin posted his second double of the game to score a run in the fourth as the score grew to 7-0
• Marian scored twice in the fifth, but Guzman limited the damage thanks to an outfield assist to cut down a third run at the plate
• Hotze drove home the final run with a single in the sixth
• Benedictine scored single runs in each of the first two innings in the second contest but could not push across another as Marian rallied to salvage the split
• Jack Feeley led off the second contest with a walk, stole second and scored on a double from McLaughlin
• Kiser connected on his fifth homer of the season leading off the second
• Kiser is tied for the conference lead in longballs
• Ryan Miller was zipping along, allowing just a single run in the fifth before Marian grabbed the lead for the first time with two in the seventh
• The visitors added an unearned run in the eighth to account for the final
• Benedictine placed the tying runs on base in the ninth but could not score

STAT LEADERS
• Guzman improved to 2-1 on the year by working seven innings, walking one and striking out three
• Cooper Murphy and Chad DeGroot threw scoreless frames to cap the win
• Benedictine finished with 15 hits in the opener
• McLaughlin and Callaghan each picked up three as eight individuals recorded a hit
• The second contest saw Benedictine notch just six hits, matching the second lowest output of the year
• Three of the hits came from Stirbis
• Miller allowed just two earned runs in six innings but was saddled with the defeat
