Softball Tallies 27 Hits in Rockford Sweep

Benedictine University softball picked up their fourth straight weekend victory with a sweep of Rockford University on Sunday afternoon. The two wins moved them to 7-1 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.
 
THE FINAL – GAME ONE
Benedictine 8, Rockford 0
 
THE DETAILS
• Kassee Johnson led off the game with a single and stolen base
• Doubles from Courtney Grasz and Holly Haberkorn led to two runs
• In the second inning Angie Malsack and Alexandra Laphen singled to give BenU a 3-0 lead
• The Eagle offense would not quit, racking up two more runs in the third with hits from Haberkorn, Malsack and Jenna Boyajian
• Up 6-0 a Boyajian triple in the seventh led to two more runs for an 8-0 victory
 
STAT LEADERS
Boyajian: 3-4, 2 runs
Malsack: 4-4, 2 RBI, 1 run
Haberkorn (13-2): 7.0 innings pitched, 1 hit, 11 strikeouts
 
THE FINAL – GAME TWO
• After a scoreless first inning, Benedictine put a run on the board in the second with hits from Breanna Sobotka and Johnson
• The Eagles tallied another run in the fourth before collecting a pair of runs in the sixth after a triple from Malsack and a double from Emily Moore
• Benedictine secured the 7-0 win in the seventh when Haberkorn picked up her second homerun of the season followed by hits from Malsack, Sobotka and Kelli Holstine
