LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer team held their own against the top-ranked team in the nation, dropping the final non-conference clash of the season at home.

#1 Chicago 3, Benedictine 1
• Benedictine was able to grab an early lead in the contest
• Santiago Beltran missed a blast wide left in the second minute
• Following a foul, Benedictine received a free kick in the third minute
• A scramble in front of the net resulted in
Hugo Gomez sneaking a loose ball into the bottom right corner to put Benedictine ahead
• Most of the first half was played even
• Chicago was able to tie the game in the 32nd minute, redirecting a cross into the net
• Chicago controlled a bulk of possession in the second half and following a pair of attempts from Benedictine scored the deciding tally in the 59th minute
• Less than four minutes later a quick counter produced the final tally
• Benedictine saw a pair of chances in the 79th minute but a penalty kick from
Nick Kapetanos was stopped and the rebound from
Lukasz Sulka turned aside as well
• The remainder of the games on the schedule will be conference contests
• The goal scored against Chicago was just the fifth allowed this season in nine matches by the #1 team in the nation
• Chicago held a 15-8 advantage in shots
• Benedictine notched four shots in each half
• Antonio Marti Polo made one save in the loss
• Sulka finished with three shots to lead Benedictine

Benedictine (6-4) returns to conference play at home on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. against Edgewood College
