The Benedictine University women's volleyball team battled to five sets with Lakeland College on Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.

Benedictine 2, Lakeland 3 (21-25, 25-20, 12-25, 25-22, 13-15)

• In the first set, Lakeland took a 4-0 lead and Benedictine could never recover, falling 25-21
• The Eagles took a 12-7 lead in set two after four straight Chelsi Blair points
• Benedictine would tally 13 kills and a .237 hitting percentage in the 25-20 win
• Tied at one set each, the Muskies took a 9-3 lead, only allowing BenU to tally eight kills for a -.031 hitting percentage
• The fourth set saw both teams trade points early
• Tied at 20, Vanessa Possidoni connected for three straight points and a Kendall Holmes kill would give BenU the 25-22 win to force a fifth set
• The beginning of the fifth set saw Benedictine take a 6-0 lead but Lakeland answered right back with four straight of their own
• After being tied at 10, Lakeland took the lead and never lost it, winning 15-13
• Junior Kristina Billie tallied a season-high 30 digs

Benedictine volleyball, now 2-16 overall and 1-3 in NACC action, will celebrate homecoming with two matches next weekend. The Eagles host Alverno College on Friday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a 12:00 p.m. contest against Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday, October 7.
