For the second time in a week, the Benedictine University men's volleyball team took down a nationally ranked opponent, this time in #5 New York University in straight sets.

Benedictine 3, NYU 0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-23)

• Benedictine had a monstrous first set performance, tallying five blocks and 13 kills for a .429 attack percentage
• The Eagles took an early lead after back-to-back Kyle VanStedum and Zach Loeding blocks and never looked back
• Elijah Medlock had seven kills in the first set
• In the second set, the Eagles led early but let New York University go on a 3-0 run to tie it at 15
• A Markus Riemer kill ignited a 3-0 run for the Eagles as they went on to win 25-19
• Benedictine tallied five more blocks in the second set and limited NYU to just eight kills for a -.080 attack percentage
• Both teams traded points and the lead in the third set up until the end
• After being down, Benedictine rallied for three straight to tie it at 20
• A Medlock kill and solo block put BenU up 24-22
• The Eagles managed to hang on in the end for the 25-23 win
• As a team, the Eagles recorded 38 kills, 29 digs and 11 blocks compared to NYU's 31 kills, 20 digs and 10 blocks

"We had a clear game plan," said head coach Dan Buehring. "We followed it and we executed on our side of the net. We were looking for a really good fight from them and that's what we got. I'm just really glad to see the guys come out on top. They earned it."
