Eagles Take On DI Powerhouse Lewis University

Continuing their extremely tough non-conference schedule to start the season, the Benedictine University men's volleyball team traveled to Romeoville, IL to compete against Division I national powerhouse Lewis University on Saturday night.

• Benedictine battled Lewis all the way to the end in the first set, hanging tough against the No. 11 ranked team in the nation
• The Eagles trailed by as many as four early on in the first set but went on a 4-0 run and trailed by just one (16-15) after two straight Elijah Medlock aces
• Benedictine tied it at 18 and took their first lead of the match (19-18) after a Lewis error
• Up 28-27 from an Adriel Rivas kill, the Eagles could not hold on as the Lewis offense came alive, falling in the first set 32-20
• Lewis overpowered BenU in the second set, only allowing them to tally nine kills with a .038 attack percentage
• The Eagles trailed early in the third set but a Medlock kill tied it at 15
• That would be the closest that BenU would come to the lead as Lewis would go on to connect for 17 kills and the 25-21 win
