Second Half Rally Powers Women's Hoops to Win

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball team rallied in the second half to take down visiting North Central College and improve to 3-1 on the year

THE DETAILS
•
North Central jumped out early, building a 7-2 lead and holding the edge for the entire opening quarter
• Claire Gibler made a jumper to open the second quarter and tie the game at 17
• North Central responded with six straight points and held a 31-21 lead with 5:26 left in the first half
• Benedictine trimmed the lead to just three at halftime by scoring the final five points of the half on a pair of free throws from Gibler and a three-pointer from Hanna Piro
• Gibler put Benedictine in front for the first time at 43-42 with a jumper at the 7:12 mark of the third
• Reggie Much hit a jumper with 2:18 left in the third to hand Benedictine a five-point edge at 58-53
• The visitors scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to take the lead
• Casey Williams converted on an layup with 4:55 to go to give Benedictine the lead for good
• North Central missed two chances to tie or take the lead in the final 30 seconds

Benedictine scored 40 points in the paint and held a 49-38 edge on the glass, scoring 15 second-chance points
• Benedictine finished the game shooting 41.2 percent from the field and received 46 points from the bench
• Gibler led all scorers with 15 off the bench
