Women's Hoops Rolls to Win in NACC Opener

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball overcame a slow start to roll to a win in the conference opener, downing Illinois Tech at home on Saturday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
•
Illinois Tech scored the first four points of the game and held a 6-2 lead with 7:49 left in the opening quarter
• Benedictine closed the quarter on a 10-2 run to lead 12-8, taking the lead for the first time on a layup from Britney Pitzer with 1:45 remaining in the first
• Benedictine scored the first six points of the second quarter to open a double-digit lead at 18-8 on a basket from Allison Michalski and did not look back
• Leading 30-15 at the half, Benedictine outscored Illinois Tech 21-2 in the third to pull away
• Benedictine opened the third with a 10-0 run to take a 40-15 edge on a layup from D'Asia Williams
• The quarter came to a close with a run of 11-0
• All of the active players on the roster had the opportunity to see the floor as the lead reached 48 points in the fourth including a run of 21-0 that crossed from the third into the fourth

STAT LEADERS

Williams led Benedictine with 13 points, adding nine rebounds and three assists
• Michalski also reached double figures with 11
• Alex Fanning finished with eight points, eight rebounds and eight blocks in 15 minutes of action off the bench
• Pitzer contributed seven as 13 players scored and just one played over 20 minutes
• Benedictine held a 60-35 edge on the glass and finished with 42 points in the paint
