Men's Hoops Falls at Edgewood

MADISON, WI - The Benedictine University men's basketball team played for the third time in five games, dropping a conference contest at Edgewood.

THE DETAILS
•
Benedictine jumped out of the gates, opening a 7-0 lead as three different players scored
• Following the first Edgewood basket, Bryan Jakobsze and Eric Grygo scored on back-to-back possessions to hand Benedictine an 11-2 edge less than three minutes into the game
• The hosts settled in and pulled to within three points at the midway point of the first
• Edgewood tied the game for the first time with 6:05 to go in the half
• A three-point play from Hayden Helfrich with 2:02 to play in the first broke a 22-22 tie, but Benedictine did not score again and went into the half even at 25 apiece
• Jakobsze and Kyle Graebner connected on three-pointers early in the second half and Benedictine led by six points with 15:53 remaining
• Edgewood used a 9-0 run to take the lead as Benedictine struggled from the field
• A 13-0 run from the hosts pushed the lead out to 14 points at 52-38 with 7:57 left and Edgewood led by as many as 21 in the second half

Benedictine shot 33.3 percent for the game while Edgewood held a 38-31 edge on the glass
• Benedictine posted 26 points in the paint and 11 second chance points off nine offensive rebounds
• Three players scored in double figures led by 11 from Graebner
• Jakobsze and Michael Johnson both added 10
• Johnson has scored in double figures in all three games played
