#10 Men's Volleyball Wins First Ever NACC Match

LISLE, IL - The 10th-ranked Benedictine University men's volleyball team won their first ever Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match, taking down visiting Aurora in four sets.

• Aurora scored the opening point of the night before Benedictine ripped off three in a row and did not trail again in the opening set
• Consecutive kills from Lewis Stein and Adriel Rivas made the score 9-4 and prompted a timeout
• Aurora hit -.167 in the first, making 11 errors
• Aurora led 8-4 in the second before four straight points tied the contest at 8-8; Rivas and Markus Riemer tallied kills in the stretch
• The visitors scored the next two and did not trail again in the set
• Down 24-18, Benedictine gained some momentum by notching five straight points while Kyle VanStedum was on serve
• Two of the points came off swings from Rivas and Elijah Medlock added another kill
• Much of the third was played even but with the score even at 19-19, Nick Malak recorded three consecutive kills to help push Benedictine to the decision
• Trailing 15-12, Benedictine put away Aurora with a run of 10 consecutive points while John Matthews was on serve, including back-to-back aces
• Medlock ended the match with a kill
• Benedictine hit .274 in the match including a .364 clip in the fourth and added eight blocks
• The meeting marked the first ever between Benedictine and Aurora in men's volleyball; Aurora is a first-year program
