#9 Men's Volleyball Holds Off Lakeland

Ranked ninth in the nation this week, Benedictine University men's volleyball pulled out a five-set win over Lakeland University after trailing 2-1 to move to 2-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.

• With the score tied at three in the first set, the Eagles tallied three straight off of the serve of Nick Malak to take the lead and cruise to a 25-16 win
• Kyle VanStedum tallied four kills and the Eagles had two blocks in the set
• Benedictine tallied error after error in the second set
• The Eagles could only muster seven kills and hit negative after trailing by as many as 10 in the 25-15 loss
• Lakeland came out on fire in the third set, taking a 6-1 lead and BenU could never recover, falling 25-22
• In the fourth set, Zach Loeding put the Eagles up 4-0
• The Muskies would tie it at 16 but a Joe Lock ace gave Benedictine the lead and they never looked back, winning 25-22, forcing a fifth set
• The Eagles tallied 10 kills with a .412 hitting percentage while holding LU to just four kills in the fifth set for the 15-9 victory
• As a team, BenU collected 52 kills (.195), 15 service errors, 43 digs and seven blocks
