LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team opened the home portion of the season by scoring the first win of the year in convincing fashion

• Benedictine did not trail in the contest, but needed almost an entire quarter to get rolling

Nick Wood netted an unassisted tally with just 4:34 left in the opening quarter
• David Blanco scored his first goal of the season on his first shot of the year with the countdown on to end the first with help from
Corbin Gett
• The lead reached 4-0 with consecutive goals in just over a minute early in the second from
Anthony Leahy and Gett
• Benedictine led 6-2 at halftime before a third quarter onslaught put the game out of reach
• Five different players scored in the third quarter as Benedictine opened an 11-2 lead
• The fourth quarter saw three additional tallies as Benedictine scored eight straight in the second half, allowing others to see time on the field
• Benedictine won 17 of the 20 faceoffs and held a 42-19 advantage in shots
• Benedictine also posted 41 groundballs
• Gett posted seven points with three goals and four assists while Leahy scored four times and dished out a pair of helpers
• Blanco and Wood also scored twice with
Will Reece III and Joe Sphan notching a goal and an assist
• All three goalies saw time with
Sam Sanko playing three quarters and stopping four shots

Benedictine (1-1) travels to Kalamazoo College in Michigan for a non-conference game on Wednesday night.
