Men's Volleyball Splits Triangular

The #7 Benedictine University men's volleyball team split a pair of matches in Rock Island, IL at the Augustana-Greenville triangular. Despite taking a 2-0 lead over Augustana, the Eagles dropped a five-set match against the Vikings but went on to defeat Greenville College in four sets.

• It was all Benedictine in set one as they led the entire set and tallied nine kills with a .304 attack percentage and four blocks for the 25-13 win
• Set two saw both teams trade points but the Eagles looked like they were going to run away with it after tallying three straight to take a 20-17 lead
• Augustana responded with three straight of their own to tie it up, but a Kyle VanStedum kill and an AC service error would secure the BenU 26-24 win
• The Eagles gained a five-point advantage in the third set but an Augustana 5-1 run tied the set at 23
• Augustana would win on a BenU attack error, one of seven they recorded in the set as they only hit .091
• Another back and forth set saw the Eagles falter at the end – The Vikings tallied 14 kills with a .273 attack percentage for the 25-23 win
• In the fifth set, Benedictine led 11-8 but let AC go on a 5-0 run to take the lead
• Benedictine would tie it up after a Joe Lock kill but a BenU service error and AC kill would secure their victory
• This is the second time the two teams have met this season; Benedictine swept Augustana in their first match of the year on January 12
