HOLLAND, MI - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team suffered a second straight defeat, falling to Hope College in non-conference action in Michigan on Saturday afternoon.

• Benedictine fell behind early as Hope netted the first goal less than two minutes into the game
• Hope scored the first four goals of the contest
• The first Benedictine goal came in the closing seconds of the first quarter when Corbin Gett set up Anthony Leahy
• The hosts dominated the second quarter, outscoring Benedictine 8-2 to lead 12-3 at halftime
• Both Benedictine goals came from Nick Wood
• Gett and Leahy put together back-to-back tallies midway through the third to bring Benedictine within 13-5, but the team could pull no closer


• Hope held a 39-25 edge in shots with 26 coming in the first half
• Benedictine won 11 faceoffs and picked up 34 groundballs
• Sam Sanko posted 11 saves in goal
• Wood, Leahy and Gett all scored twice with Gett and Wood producing assists
• Nicholai Benavides picked up six groundballs and caused three turnovers
• Mateo Salceda claimed 11 faceoff wins and tacked on six groundballs


Benedictine (2-3) opens the conference slate next Saturday with a home game against Aurora
