Softball Drops Two in Florida

Benedictine University softball opened the season in Florida on Friday afternoon. The Eagles dropped a 3-2 game against Ohio Wesleyan before falling 7-3 to Saint Mary's.

• After three scoreless innings, Ohio Wesleyan got on the board first, tallying two runs off of three hits in the fourth
• The Eagles cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the frame when Angie Malsack led off the inning with a walk and Emily Moore reached on an error
• Emily Chitwood walked, her second of the game, to load the bases and Breanna Sobotka picked up her first RBI of the year on a walk
• In the seventh, OWU connected on two hits to score another run
• Benedictine threatened in the bottom of the inning when Kaitlyn Velazquez homered to make it 3-2
• The BenU offense could not muster any more runs in the loss
• On the mound for the Eagles, Becky Karlinski allowed three earned runs, one walk and tallied two strikeouts in 7 innings
