Softball Falls to Hope

The Benedictine University softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Hope College on Tuesday morning. The Eagles played four innings against Calvin College before the game was cancelled due to rain.

• Benedictine took a 1-0 run lead in the first after a Kaitlyn Velazquez scored on a Hope error after doubling down the left field line to lead off the inning
• The Eagles tallied another run in the second after a Breanna Sobotka single scored Emily Chitwood who reached on an error to lead off the inning
• Hope tallied a run in the third and another in the fifth off of BenU errors
• Hope took the 3-2 lead in the sixth and BenU threatened in the bottom of the frame but left a runner stranded at third
• Becky Karlinski allowed two earned runs in the game and tallied one strikeout and seven hits in 7.0 innings
