AUBURNDALE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team dropped a contest between two of the hottest teams in the nation in Florida on Thursday afternoon

UW-Oshkosh 13, Benedictine 3 - Eight Innings
• Playing as the visitors, Benedictine jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second
• Sam Kerr doubled and scored the first run of the game on an RBI single from
Brenden Norberg with two outs
• UW-Oshkosh responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, taking the lead on a two-run homer
• UW-Oshkosh broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth against three different pitchers to grab a 10-1 edge
• Kerr knocked home two in the sixth with a two-out double after
Michael Chaffin and
Jimmy McLaughlin singled
• UW-Oshkosh was able to get a run back in the seventh and scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to end the game
• The loss stopped a five-game win streak for Benedictine, who already owns two wins over nationally recognized programs including one over another WIAC power (UW-La Crosse)
• UW-Oshkosh, winners of eight in a row, is receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com Poll, the fourth team on the trip to be receiving recognition
• James Wright suffered the loss, his first of the season, after working just two innings
• Justin Sosa tallied five innings of relief in his collegiate debut, allowing just two earned runs
• Benedictine finished with nine hits in the game
• McLaughlin paced the attack with three hits
• Kerr finished with two, both doubles

Benedictine (6-3) meets Bowdoin College at 8:15 a.m. Central on Friday.
