LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team pulled away from visiting Marian University to claim the first conference victory of the year

• Benedictine never trailed in the contest
• The first goal of the game took nearly 10 minutes as Nick Wood struck with 6:24 left in the opening quarter after a successful clear
• Marian was able to tie the game with under three minutes remaining before Corbin Gett scored the first of four consecutive Benedictine goals to gain a cushion
• The goal came in the final minute of the first
• Benedictine blanked Marian in the second, striking three times to take a 5-1 lead into halftime
• The visitors cut into the deficit in the third, twice battling within three goals
• A big fourth enabled Benedictine to pull away with three different players scoring to account for the final
• Benedictine has limited five opponents to less than 10 goals this year including three straight
• Benedictine has now claimed three in a row
• The meeting marked the first ever between the two programs as Marian is a first year team


• Benedictine tallied 47 shots, including 28 on cage
• Benedictine won 18 faceoffs with Mateo Salceda capturing 17 and grabbing 11 groundballs
• Benedictine finished with 45 groundballs
• Gett scored six times and added a pair of assists with five groundballs
• Wood found the back of the net four times and added a helper
• Randy Patrick notched two goals and two assists
• Sam Sanko stopped six shots in net with Jack Collins adding two


Benedictine (5-4, 1-1 MLC) travels to Beloit on Saturday.
