Men's Lacrosse Slows MSOE to Win Sixth Straight

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team notched a key home victory over MSOE on Wednesday night

• Benedictine scored two goals early to establish a leg up in the contest
• Nick Wood netted both goals, scoring the first goal unassisted with 13:07 left in the first following a clear
• The second goal came with 11:34 left with help from Anthony Leahy
• Thomas Tillett tallied the final goal of the opening quarter thanks to Corbin Gett, making the score 3-1
• The goal was the first of five straight as Benedictine opened a 7-1 halftime advantage when Will Reece III struck late in the second
• MSOE scored four of the first five goals in the third to battle within 8-5
• Rapid goals from Gett and Tillett in the final 10 seconds of the third just moments apart put the game out of reach and the defense posted a fourth quarter shutout
• Benedictine has won six straight and has not allowed an opponent to score more than seven goals during the win streak
• Benedictine already owns more wins than last season and pulled closer to officially returning to the conference tournament, owning victories over two teams picked to finish in front of them in the preseason poll

• MSOE held a 29-27 advantage in shots but Benedictine held a 25-19 edge in groundballs
• Gett scored three goals and added two assists in the victory
• Tillett struck for two goals and tacked on three assists while Wood and Reece III each tallied two goals
• Sam Sanko stopped 14 shots in net
• Zachary Suhsen caused three turnovers on defense with Mateo Salceda picking up six groundballs

"It was great to see the most complete game of the season from our team tonight," head coach Guy Bourdon said. "We didn't forget that they ended our season last year and it was nice to turn the tables this season to erase that memory."
