Eagles Record Two Shutouts

Benedictine softball played two nonconference games on Thursday afternoon, sweeping Mount Mary in two five-inning game shutouts.

• In game one the Eagles tallied seven hits, two coming in the first inning from Angie Malsack and Courtney Grasz to take a 4-0 lead
• After two more runs in the second, the BenU offense exploded with four more runs in the third
• With two outs, Kaitlyn Velazquez and Abbey Plutz both doubled followed by a Breanna Sobotka single and a Malsack triple for the 10-0 lead
• Neither team would score again as the Eagles won 10-0 in five innings

• Game two saw the Eagles take another first inning lead after Malsack led off with a double down the left field line
Elena Sakellaropoulos and Emily Moore singled to score three runs
• Benedictine tallied six runs off of six hits and two Mount Mary errors in the second to take a 9-0 lead
• The Eagles secured their victory in the third inning when they tallied two more runs off of three hits for the 11-0 win in five innings
