Eagles Win Non-Conference Contest

The Benedictine University softball team took a break from Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action to take on NAIA opponent Trinity Christian College on Monday afternoon. The Eagles defeated the Trolls 6-1.

• In the third, Breanna Sobotka walked and then scored after an Emily Moore triple
• Courtney Grasz tallied an RBI single to give Benedictine a 2-0 lead
• Trinity cut their deficit in half in the fifth inning after scoring a run off of two hits
• Benedictine responded in the bottom of the frame after Abbey Plutz and Emily Moore singled
• Grasz collected her second hit of the game, a two-run RBI single to make it 4-1
• The Eagles offense didn't stop there – in the sixth inning, Emily Chitwood singled to right field followed by an Elena Sakellaropoulos single
• Both runners scored after a single to right from Plutz for the 6-1 win
• On the mound, Nicole Parney picked up her fifth win of the season
