Home Runs Push Eagles Past CUC

Jenna Boyajian tallied three homeruns including a grand slam in game two as the Benedictine University softball team swept the Concordia University Chicago Cougars on Tuesday night in River Forest, IL.

GAME ONE
• In the first inning, Benedictine put up three runs off of three hits
• Emily Moore scored Angie Malsack who reached base on a CUC error
• Courtney Grasz followed with a double and Boyajian collected her first homer to give BenU a 3-0 lead
• The Eagles doubled their lead in the second with three more runs after Grasz homered to right center
• The Cougars responded in the bottom of the frame with three runs of their own
• In the third, Kaitlyn Velazquez homered to left field and CUC tallied two errors to put BenU up 9-3
• A Boyajian RBI double in the fifth secured the Eagles 10-3 win

• An Elena Sakellaropoulos single scored Chitwood who reached on a CUC error in the second
• Four hits from the Eagles put BenU up 2-0 in the third
• Concordia took a 3-2 lead in the third after three hits and two BenU errors
• In the fourth, Velazquez walked and then stole home
• Moore and Grasz tallied RBI's and another Boyajian homer scored two more runs to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead
• Boyajian tallied her sixth homer of the season, a grand slam, in the fifth as part of a six-run inning to give the Eagles a 13-3 win
