LOVES PARK, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team continued a busy stretch by splitting a conference doubleheader at Rockford

• Benedictine could not overcome an early crooked number for Rockford in the opener
• The hosts scored five times in the bottom of the first and put two more on the board in the second before going quiet
• Benedictine scored three times in the fifth, all with two outs and following an error
• Jimmy McLaughlin reached on an error and moved up when
Kyle Mitter dropped down a bunt single
• Jack Feeley put Benedictine on the board with an RBI single and
Jonathan Hodo followed with a two-run double
• Sam Kerr singled home the final run in the top of the sixth
• The second contest saw a lot of action early
• Benedictine plated three runs in the top of the first
• Feeley led off the game with a single and was sacrificed to second, eventually scoring on a
Jack Surin fielder's choice
• Brandon Gipson logged a two-out RBI single and the final run scored on a wild pitch
• Leading 3-2 after two Benedictine put two more runs on the board in the third
• Michael Chaffin led off with a single and came around on a Gipson RBI single with
Tyler Woynerowski also picking up an RBI single
• Rockford did not score again and Benedictine pulled away in the middle innings with three more in the fifth and two in sixth sixth
• Ivan Guzman rebounded from the tough start in the opener, working six innings, but still suffered the defeat
• Cameron Paladines finished out game one with two blank frames
• Both teams finished with eight hits in the opener
• Feeley logged three and Hodo two
• Alexander Schram allowed just one earned run in six innings to win game two, striking out three
• Michael Santarelli and
Joshua Silverman finished out the game with Santarelli throwing two innings
• Four players posted multiple hits in the second contest with two notching three
• Gipson and Woynerowski finished with three hits each while Feeley and Mitter picked up a pair
• Surin drove home three in the victory
