LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team crept closer to a return to the MLC Tournament by notching a home victory over Cornell on Friday night.

Benedictine 10, Cornell 4
• Benedictine scored the first four goal on a cold night, never trailing in the win
• Anthony Leahy opened the scoring with 5:44 to play in the first quarter, driving home a pass from 
Thomas Tillett following a timeout
• Corbin Gett and 
Nick Wood also struck in the opening quarter as Benedictine blanked the visitors in the first 15
• Cornell finally scored early in the second but trailed 6-1 at the half
• Gett and Wood controlled the contest as Benedictine countered every Cornell goal with at least two of their own
• The victory enabled Benedictine to surpass last season's win total
• Benedictine has never lost to Cornell
• Gett scored six goals on eight shots while Wood netted three to go with an assist
• Tillett posted three assists
• Sam Sanko made seven saves in net
• Daniel Lawler caused five turnovers with 
Zachary Suhsen causing four to go with six groundballs
• Mateo Salceda won nine faceoffs and collected five groundballs
• Benedictine converted on 20 clears while picking up 39 groundballs and amassing 28 shots, 19 of which were on goal
