MT. VERNON, IOWA - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team suffered a one-goal loss on the road Saturday afternoon after allowing the winning tally with just over a minute left.

Cornell 14, Benedictine 13
• Cornell scored the first goal of game less than two minutes into the game but
Lexie Orr quickly tied the contest following a turnover and clear
• The hosts tallied the next two goals to jump ahead 3-1 in a frantic opening five minutes

• Benedictine notched the final two goals of the half as Orr and
Ries McCue struck to put Benedictine up 8-7 at halftime
• Emily Vellender opened the second half with a goal to hand Benedictine a 9-7 edge
• Madison Horan extended the edge to 10-7 with 25:07 left
• Benedictine led 12-8 before Cornell unleashed five consecutive goals to lead 13-12

Victoria House with the tying goal at the 3:54 mark before the winning goal came with 1:15 left
• Benedictine captured the ensuing draw control but was unable to tie the game, dropping a sixth straight
• Moreno, Orr and Horan all scored three goals with Horan adding an assist
• Maria Trevino, Orr and House each added two goals
• Emma Redfern recorded 17 saves in goal
• Benedictine held a 14-12 advantage in draw controls with Orr racking up six and McCue and Horan four apiece
• Cornell held a 36-30 edge in shots
