Volleyball Cruises To Home Opener Victory

The Benedictine University women's volleyball team moved to 2-1 on the season with a sweep of Carroll University in their home opener on Wednesday night in the Rice Center.

THE DETAILS
• In the first set, both teams traded points until Benedictine broke away at the end, tallying four straight to secure the win which included two kills from Molly Stock
• Neither team would give up in the second set, tallying a combined 84 swings and BenU tallying 15 kills
• Tied at 29, the teams traded points until the Eagles took a 32-31 lead and won the set on a CU error
• Benedictine took a commanding 8-1 lead in the third set but allowed Carroll to go on a 3-0 run to cut their deficit in half
• A Hannah Griffith solo block gave BenU the momentum they needed to pull away for the 25-16 win
• The Eagles held the Pioneers to just nine kills in set three and a .075 attack percentage overall
• Benedictine collected 39 kills and hit .179 with five blocks and 52 team digs
