Women's Hoops Improves to 15-3

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball team improved to 15-3 on the year with a home win over Alverno to sweep the season series.

•
Benedictine shook off a cold start, falling behind by five points in the first two minutes of the contest
• Alex Fanning evened the game at 8-8 with a free throw at the 5:31 mark
• Allison Michalski dropped home a layup in the final minute of the first to give Benedictine the lead for good at 15-14
• MaKayli Vann capped a 7-0 run early in the second to put Benedictine in front 20-14
• Elisa Diorio opened an 11-0 run as Benedictine began to pull away late in the second, taking a 37-22 lead into the break
• Benedictine opened the second half with an 18-0 run, holding Alverno scoreless for over seven minutes, grabbing a 55-22 lead on a basket from Michalski
• Benedictine, who outscored Alverno 25-6 in the third, led by as many as 38 points and allowed the bench to see significant minutes in the final frame

Benedictine shot 40.8 percent for the game and held a 53-42 edge on the glass, dishing 20 assists on 31 field goals
• The bench scored 46 points as 15 players saw the floor with 12 scoring
• Benedictine totaled 44 points in the paint and 21 second chance points along with 22 on the fast break and 22 off turnovers
• Fanning, the top rebounder in the conference, totaled a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, adding five blocks and four assists in 18 minutes of action
• Michalski netted 12 points off the bench in just seven minutes of play
• Four players reached double figures as Diorio and Vann both tallied 10
