LONGVIEW, TEXAS - The Benedictine University women's basketball team improved in the second half but dropped a contest to nationally recognized East Texas Baptist University on Sunday to complete a venture to Texas.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine never led in the game as East Texas Baptist scored the first five points of the game
• With 6:09 left in the opening quarter, East Texas Baptist led 12-2
• The deficit in the opening quarter grew to 14 points before a late 7-0 run on baskets from
Elisa Diorio and
Hanna Piro along with a three from
Brianna Lake trimmed the led to 19-12
• Benedictine managed just two points in the second quarter on a basket from
Allison Michalski at the 7:13 mark and did not score again, falling behind 35-14 at the break following an 11-0 run to close the half
• Benedictine trailed by 28 in the second half and played 16 players in the contest
• East Texas Baptist was in the final eight in 2018, was nationally ranked all of last year, and has received votes in every poll this year
• Michalski was named to the All-Tournament team
• The loss brought an end to a six-game win streak for Benedictine

• Michalski finished with 11 points, the lone player to reach double figures
• The game marked the second in a 24-hour span
• The bench scored 26 points
• Benedictine shot just 28.8 percent in the game and was only 1-of-14 in the second quarter
