#9 Men's Volleyball Sweeps #12 Cal Lutheran

The #9 Benedictine University men's volleyball team capped off the week with a sweep of #12 California Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon in the Rice Center.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine trailed early in the first set but three straight CLU errors tied the match at 12
• A Chase Olson kill gave BenU the lead and despite tallying five service errors, the Eagles went on to win 25-22
• In set two, the Eagles went up by as many as six, 11-5, with back-to-back John Davis aces
• Cal Lutheran stayed in the match, tallying three straight, but a Kyle VanStedum kill secured the 25-22 win
• Tied at 12, the Kingsmen went on a 5-0 run early in the third set to take the lead
• Davis once again served up back-to-back aces to help the Eagles regain the lead, 19-17
• Cal Lutheran hung on, going point for point with Benedictine but a VanStedum solo block followed by an Elijah Medlock kill gave BenU the 25-23 win
• As a team, Benedictine tallied 29 kills, hit .200, collected 30 digs and had 8.5 blocks
