LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team surged past visiting Lakeland in the second half to cap a busy stretch of games with a win.

THE DETAILS
• Two free throws from
Bryan Jakobsze put Benedictine ahead 11-9 with 14:12 to play in the early portions of a back-and-forth half
• Lakeland countered with eight straight points and went on to lead by as many as 13 in the half, holding a 39-34 edge at the break after Benedictine closed on a 10-2 run
• A layup from
Michael Johnson just before the half capped the scoring
• Lakeland netted the first four points of the second to move ahead by nine before Johnson scored four straight as part of a mini 5-0 run to draw Benedictine within 43-39
• Benedictine continued to come up with stops , eventually tying the game at 47 on a layup from
Walter Taylor with 12:44 to play
• Taylor followed with a jumper to give Benedictine the lead
• Carl Singletary, Jr. gave Benedictine the advantage for good with just over five minutes left
• Lakeland tied the game with 3:20 left, but a 6-0 run put the game away entering the final minute
• The win secured a sixth straight winning season for Benedictine

Kenny Bogus, who also grabbed 12 rebounds to go with two blocks and four assists
