Eagles Win NACC Opener

Benedictine softball opened the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference portion of the 2019 schedule on Saturday afternoon, taking two games from Edgewood College to move to 12-2 on the season.
 
GAME ONE FINAL
Benedictine 7, Edgewood 4
 
THE DETAILS
• Edgewood scored in the second but Benedictine took the lead in the top of the third, scoring three runs
• Four Eagles tallied hits including Faith Chada, Megan Fast, Ashley Fisher and Abbey Plutz to take the 3-1 lead
• Edgewood tied it in the bottom of the frame when they tallied two runs off of two hits
• In the fifth, both teams each scored a run
• Benedictine secured the win in the sixth, tallying three runs after Taylor Skraba and Fast tallied hits

Skraba: 2-3, 2 runs
Fast: 2-4, 1 run, 2 RBI
Fisher: 2-4, 1 run, 2 RBI

GAME TWO FINAL
Benedictine 12, Edgewood 3 (5 innings)
 
THE DETAILS
• Despite Edgewood scoring two in the first, Benedictine tallied six runs off of five hits in the second
• A three-run triple from Emily Moore put BenU on top 6-2
• In the fourth, Chada singled followed by a two-run double from Plutz to take a 10-2 lead
• The Eagles added two more in the fifth
• Edgewood tried to rally in the bottom of the frame, tallying one run, but Fast struck out the last batter to secure the 12-3 win

Fisher: 2-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI
Chada: 2-3, 2 runs

Benedictine softball is back in action tomorrow when they travel to Rockford University for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.
