Softball Takes Two at Rockford

The Benedictine University softball team remained undefeated in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action with a sweep of Rockford on the road.

THE DETAILS
• Rockford tallied a run in the first but Benedictine took a 2-1 lead in the fourth after RBI's from Abbey Plutz and Kaitlyn Velazquez
• The Eagles tallied another run in the fifth but RU tied it up in the bottom of the frame
• In the sixth, hits from Velazquez, Elena Sakellaropoulos and Faith Chada gave BenU the lead
• Benedictine tallied four more runs in the top of the seventh inning including a two-run sac fly from Asia Robinette
• Rockford tried to rally, but they could only muster two runs in the bottom of the seventh

THE DETAILS
• On the mound, Megan Fast picked up her second shutout of the season
• The Eagles tallied 15 hits while Rockford had five errors
• A double from Fisher and triple from Plutz put BenU up 3-0 after the first
• In the third, Asia Robinette homered to center field, scoring two runs and putting the Eagles up 5-0
• Benedictine tallied two runs off of two hits in the fourth
• The seventh inning saw Becky Roncone tally a two-run single as BenU tallied five more runs in the seventh
